Our Story

From Bangkok with love...

Chommy, founder of Chim Chim, was born in the North East of Thailand. Until marrying co-founder Joe and emigrating to the UK last year, she had resided in Bangkok for most of her life, which is where they both met. It was clear from the get go that they both shared a love for animals and food, two passions which make up the ethos of Chim Chim.

 

Having just turned to a plant-based diet before moving to Thailand nearly a decade ago, Joe found his options for eating quite limited, as most Thai dishes typically contain meat and fish extracts. With a limited knowledge of the Thai language Joe found himself living off of a diet of Pad Thai, fried rice and tofu. Thankfully, Chommy came to his rescue!

Having learned to cook from a young age, Chommy knew the ins and outs of many Thai dishes and taught Joe how to adapt traditional meals into those suitable for a plant-based diet. This is where the vision for Chim Chim started, in our kitchen, in the city of Angels
